HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), is the term for safe standards, determined by each client. This process is done on certain guidelines (AIB, BRC, SIS etc.) to establish each food processing facility, packaging facility, food handling facility etc. with a set of safe procedures and methods that regulate their processes and the environment it is done in, to produce a product safe for consumption.
The role of the Pest Control Industry is to compliment the standards and procedures these facilities has imposed and implemented. By applying the concept of an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) program unwanted pests can be controlled and eradicated IPM is a process of basic steps which include; Inspection,
Establishment of threshold levels,
Implementing control measures
Ongoing evaluation of its efficiency.
Control measures must be environmentally compatible and economically sound. The IPM approach to Pest Management differs in some ways from the traditional approach that relies primarily upon pesticide use. The PCO will advise the client on methods to control the environment where pesticide use can be of the minimum.
